MDOT awarding grants

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is awarding state Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) Category F grants totaling $882,421 to two southwest Michigan cities and one county road commission. The Cass County Road Commission (CCRC) will resurface and upgrade to all-season status 1 mile of Carberry Road from M-60 Business Route (Yankee Street) to Lake Street. This is part of a commercial route between M-60 and an industrial park located northeast of the city of Niles. The overall cost of the project is $466,198, using $372,958 in TEDF Category F funding. The CCRC is providing $93,240, or 20 percent of the project cost. Battle Creek and Marshall also received grants.
