Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on Thursday just after 1 p.m., his office was called out to investigate a personal injury accident that occurred on Decatur Rd near M60 in Penn Township, Cass County Michigan. Eighty-two year old Burke Webb, of Marcellus, MI was driving southbound on Decatur Rd when he failed to recognize a semi with a trailer parked in the roadway with hazards on for construction reasons. Mr. Webb rear-ended the trailer and he received minor injuries and was transported to Dowagiac Borgess Lee for treatment. Forty-two year old Mr. William Keckler, of Middlebury, IN was the driver of the semi and was not in it at the time as the crew was working on finding a place to drop the trailer in the dirt area off the roadway before pulling in. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. Airbags were deployed in Mr. Webb’s vehicle and seat belts were used. This case remains under investigation.
