The OutCenter of Southwest Michigan, with key support from Lake Michigan College, is pleased to announce the March program for Southwest Michigan VOICES: Real Stories of transgender life, community forum. The March event is titled “Helping Families Support their LGBTQ Children” and will be held Thursday March 21st at Lake Michigan College from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in VOICES. The forum is free and explores all aspects of the transgender experience in our area, from coming out to friends and family to public acceptance, what religion says and wellness services. Audience interaction, comments and lively discussion are encouraged. VOICES was created by the OutCenter’s League of Extraordinary Genders, a monthly transgender meet-up group. The idea is to give voice to the estimated 2,000 transgender residents of our community who are often invisible and unheard. For more information, email [email protected] or phone 269-925-8330.
