Marcus Muhammad was been re-elected mayor of Benton Harbor on Tuesday night beating challenger Ron Singleton 612 to 521. Elected as city commissioners in Benton Harbor for at-large seats were incumbents Mary Alice Adams and Edward Isom narrowly defeating Jennifer Nesbitt. Benton Harbor City Commission Ward 2 saw Jerry Edwards victorious while Sharon Henderson emerged as city commissioner in Ward 1 as she had no opponent. The St. Joseph City Commission race saw all 3 incumbents winning another term. Commissioners Laura Goos, Jeff Richards and Lynn Todman prevailed while voter turnout was just under 25%. Students in Kalamazoo County will see increased options for career and technical education after voters Tuesday voiced support for a 20 year property tax to fund an expansion of existing programs. The Kalamazoo Regional Education Service Agency’s request for funds to expand the career and technical education program was approved by voters in the nine school districts during the election on Tuesday.
