SPC James McCloughan receives Medal of Honor
State Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker welcomed Vietnam veteran and recent Medal of Honor recipient SPC James McCloughan to the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday. McCloughan is a resident of Casco Township and joined Schuitmaker on the Senate floor as members paid tribute to his courageous display of heroism during the Vietnam War and honored him as a Medal of Honor recipient.
DNR confirms new state-record fish for cisco
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today confirmed a new state-record fish for cisco (formerly known as lake herring). This marks the second state-record fish caught in 2017. The fish was caught Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. by Michael Lemanski of Florence, Wisconsin, on Lake Ottawa in Iron County in the western Upper Peninsula. New Michigan wildlife plate being introduced
Starting Dec. 1, a new wildlife license plate will be available in Michigan. The current common loon plate will be replaced with an elk plate to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the reintroduction of elk in Michigan. Those interested in purchasing the current common loon plate have until Nov. 30. Those who already have the loon license plate can keep it, with thanks from the DNR for supporting wildlife. Sen. Proos recieves Flue Shot, From MSU Student
Sen.
